Ranoli – Rangolis are colorful floor decorations that are traditionally widespread in Hindu countries, especially on holidays. Artful geometric patterns, floral designs, or religious symbols are scattered on the floor using colorful powder. Rangolis are said to have a protective effect against evil and attract good.

Culture and Country Evening India – Diwali Festival

Straubing and the TUM Campus are international! Following the success of the International Day in June and the Culture and Country Evening Turkey in October, we once again want to showcase our cultural diversity in November.

TUMCS, the Indian students on campus, the Partnerschaften für Demokratie of the City of Straubing, and the Ausländer- und Migrationsbeirat Straubing would like to invite you to celebrate Diwali with them on Saturday, November 16th at 5 p.m. in the Foyer of the building for Sustainable Chemistry (Uferstraße 53). Diwali is the most significant holiday for Hindus, similar to how Christmas is celebrated in Western cultures. It celebrates good conquering evil with the symbolism of the light defeating the darkness.

After celebrating this important holiday with our TUMCS Family in previous years, this year, we would like to extend the invitation to all interested Straubing residents. Come and experience Indian culture by celebrating this event full of color and cheer through food, music, dance, and, of course, fun. Entrance is free, but to ensure enough food is prepared, please register by Wednesday, November 13th, if you would like to attend, using this link: Culture and Country Evening India – Diwali Festival. Alternatively, you can also register by mail (international@cs.tum.de).
