Outstanding engineering achievements impress not only with their high degree of innovation, but also with their direct benefits for the economy and society. To honour such extraordinary achievements, the VDI Verein Deutscher Ingenieure (Association of German Engineers), Munich, Upper and Lower Bavaria district, has been awarding the renowned VDI Prize since 1984.
The 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) recently took place in Baku, Azerbaijan. Delegates from almost every country in the world came together to discuss measures to mitigate and adapt to climate change. The conference is considered an important milestone in international efforts to achieve the goal of the Paris Climate Agreement – to limit global warming to well below 2 degrees Celsius, preferably 1.5 degrees.
In three subjects, the TUM is among the top 10 universities in the ‘Shanghai Rankings’. In remote sensing, agricultural sciences and biotechnology, the ranking places its research achievements among the best in the world. Biotechnology is one of the main research fields at the TUM Campus Straubing and demonstrates the great importance of this forward-looking area at the Straubing location.
Prof. Marc Ledendecker has been awarded the Joachim Walther Schultze Prize 2024 for his pioneering work in the development of stable nanoparticles for electrochemical reactions. The German Association of Electrochemical Research Institutes (AGEF e.V.) awards the prize, endowed with 2.000 Euro, every two years to early career independent researchers for their important contribution to electrochemistry-related research topics.
The TUM Campus Straubing (TUMCS) for Biotechnology and Sustainability held a graduation ceremony for its graduates on Friday. Around 120 Bachelor’s and Master’s students received a certificate and a flower as a small gift from Rector Prof. Volker Sieber, Vice-Rector Prof. Anja Faße and Dean of Studies Prof. Cordt Zollfrank.
